Add the ability to threshold, contour or clip by vectors (magnitude or component)
It would be really nice to add the ability to threshold, contour or clip by scalar using variables other than scalars. Magnitude, and one of the components of a vector come to mind.
There;s also an option named “Auto Convert Properties” in the Settings dialog that can be turned on to “automatically” extract components or compute magnitude for field arrays.

I have another argument in favour of this request. Using the calculator will create a new array with correspondent memory cost. If the data is already there why have this inefficiency?

HolKann, I think it would just be easier to access that data directly instead of putting it through a filter first...

Isn't this already possible with the Calculator filter? I mean, you can simply convert scalars to vectors and vice versa, or calculate the magnitude of a vector. Heck, one can simply do arithmetics on different vectors, scalars etc. at the same time and add a logarithmic weight to it with the calculator. So I don't think this feature is a neat request, because it is already available...

Having this feature for any kind of filter using a scalar input would be great! The idea is : everything that is available in the display panel to color by should be available to the filters.
