It would be nice to have a reload-button for time-dependend datasets. So you don't have to apply all your filters again if the simulation is evolved in time.308 votes

Although not LaTeX, Mathtext (http://matplotlib.org/users/mathtext.html) is now supported in ParaView (starting with 3.98.1). To use mathtext in text or 2D axis labels, simply enclose the expression in $..$ markers e.g. $a^2$
Till now, it's not possible to format the Cube Axes deciding Font/Size of the text, thickness of the ticks, etc ...
Font/Size of each axis' title is a very important feature: the size is usually quite big and the letters are super-imposed to the axis' lines.
Adding this feature to Paraview would enhance it a lot
A cube axes replacement, named ’Axes Grid
is now available in ParaView git/master and will be included in the next release of ParaView.

When rendering surfaces, you are only able to set colors in the color map. You should also be able to set the opacity for each control point as you can with volumes. (Bug 6129)54 votes
This is supported in ParaView 3.98.0. The Color Scale Editor dialog adds an option to “Enable Opacity Function” for surfaces. When checked, users can specify the opacity function to use, similar to that specified for volumes.
When working in large pipelines, it's common to copy some filter properties between different instances. It would be very handy if there was a copy and paste or, maybe, a clone filter.54 votes

It could be awesome if we could use the power of the Matplotlib Qt backend for XY plot. It could really improve and enhance the usability of the XY plot module of Paraview with awesome python scripting possibility.

It would be an enhancement to ParaView's output capabilities to allow for transparent backgrounds when saving data as, e.g., PNG screenshots.
Right now, there's always a rectangular bounding box in the way independent of the geometrical structure.41 votes
This is supported since ParaView 4.2. The setting can be accessed from the Settings dialog, General Tab. Search for “Transparent Background” under the advanced settings.
It takes more effort that is necessary to rescale the colour bar, i.e.
* click the colour scale editor
* untick automatically rescale
* click rescale range
* update range in new dialog window
* click rescale
* close dialog
* Remove the unnecessary extra dialog for the range (include in the main dialog window)
* Colour editor dialog could be available as a context menu from the 3D view
* Middle click and drag could select the range from the 3D view32 votes

It would be nice if the python command shell and other views were made dockable, with an autohide feature like Visual studio. This would be productivity boost., and would be a quick way of increasing the size of the view window.24 votes
As of 5.5, both Python shell and Output Window will be dockable.
Improve the CGNS reader to reduce loading time of large datasets. This would be useful for post-processing large datasets in all applications such as CFD where the CGNS format is widely used.
With a medium size 1.4 Gb CGNS dataset, Tecplot loading time is about 15 times less than the loading time of the VisIt CGNS reader in PV 220.127.116.11 votes
The reader has undergone several improvements in recent releases (e.g. 5.4). Please give it a try and report issues if run into (the mailing list or the issue tracker ( https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/issues) might be easier for that.
LOD actor goes back to full representation on mouse release. In ICEM_CFD it waits 2sec (or so so) so I can continue transformations in LOD mode without annoying delays. It is very smart of them and such feature should be added to VTK/PV.18 votes
This has now been fixed in git-master. There’s a 2 sec delay. It will make it into 3.10 release.

It would be really nice to add the ability to threshold, contour or clip by scalar using variables other than scalars. Magnitude, and one of the components of a vector come to mind.17 votes
There;s also an option named “Auto Convert Properties” in the Settings dialog that can be turned on to “automatically” extract components or compute magnitude for field arrays.
Sign the ParaView App with an Apple Developer ID. This would KitWare to protect the Code Supply Chain for ParaView and allow users of the OS X application to run a more secure manner.17 votes
