Add to the calc'r filter a running min/max function
In a transient calculation it can be informative to see the maximum (minimum) value at a point (cell) up to the present time.

In simulations in solid mechanics such as stress wave propagation it is not uncommon to have failure criteria based on the maximum value seen at a location, hence, a "running max/min function," for example, rmax(velocity-x) that returns the maximum velocity seen up to the current point in time for each location produces a visual that is rapidly interpreted.
