  2. Hi all, it would be very nice if the file names (if we save time dependent data using 'Save Data') are set as in the 'Save Animation Mask'. I guess the implementation is not difficult as everything is already built in. My suggestion is that the files should have the same numbering (leading zero) as the animation files. E.g.

We save the data from time 1 to 100. The data file name is "foobar.txt" which will result in

    foobar.1.txt
    foobar.2.txt
    .
    .
    .

However, it would be nicer (e.g. for sorting etc) to have the file names as:

    foobar.0001.txt
    foobar.0002.txt…

  5. For those using render view for small multiples (e.g., subplots of different months of seasons of climate data), it would be nice to be able to add one super title overlying all the individual views upon export/screenshotting.

This would be similar to pyplot.suptitle in python.

  6. Any chance we will be seeing the ability to add canned 3D scenes to a Jupyter notebook (much like the interactive plotly charts) - this would really make reports reading interesting. I think you're almost there with Paraview web!

  7. The default cylinder aligns along y-axis. It would be much helpful, if the users can specify the orientation vector of the cylinder directly inside the paraview.

  8. We and our colleagues (working in fly brain neuroanatomy) use the NRRD format. We have >100,000 NRRD images with data gzip encoded. gzip compression is useful because many images are sparse and compress by factors of >10 or even >100x.

At least on the current v5.4.1 on mac gzip encoding is not supported.

  10. Support ESRI's shapefile, which is widely used for geospatial data. This is useful for a lot of CFD problems, which sometimes need to be visualized in a geographic environment.

  11. Presently, a parent in the pipeline can only be deleted when all children have been deleted before. Suggestion to allow deletion of a parent with implicit deletion of all of its children (instead of throwing an error that parent cannot be deleted).

  14. I would find very useful to be able to set the colormap position in the same way of annotations, i.e. by specifying horizontal and vertical displacements from one of the four corners of the render view, on top of the current "standard" positions provided in the 5.4.1 release.

Plus, it would be great to have an option to set those values once for all, i.e. for any variable on any render view and layout, along with the title and text/annotations font size and title text for a given variable name, which is now reset when the colormap is displayed in…

  16. The only way to plot a streamline of a vector field is from cartesian data. It could be nice if spherical data can be used for this purpose as well.

  17. With paraview 5 the export to vector graphic formats most often results in a rasterized image (http://public.kitware.com/pipermail/paraview/2016-February/036314.html). This is huge drawback of the new version. Please bring the old true svg, eps, pdf export back!
(Old uservoice entry for this: https://paraview.uservoice.com/forums/11350-general/suggestions/313565-add-vector-graphics-output-i-e-postscript)
