I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. Clipping along a polyline

I have a turbine blade and a domain of symmetry which I want to cut into two halves along the camber line so that I can compute the average quantities in each half domain. Is there a way to clip the geometry along a poly-line such as the camber-line of the blade?

  2. bug - Calculator

I've noticed that in Paraview 3.14 and 3.10 in linux the calculator scalars menu does not allow you to choose for example the velocity components while the above data source is visible (eye on) while when the source is invisible than the scalars can be chosen. This does not occur when using the Windows versions.

  3. Add the ability to create countour lines on velocity magnitude

In now time paraview support only creating contour lines on pressure p.
If I want to create the countour line on velocity, which is not allowed by countour, I need to use 'Calculator' field with command "mag(V)", then I've got my Result, and only then I can use this Result in the countour filter to make the lines on my velocity magnitude

  4. add different integration scheme to the IntegrateVariables filter

Having different schemes with different precisions. Linear, Quadratic, Etc. The more precise, a longer computation time would be required. Also, add an error estimation in the integration

  5. Add python shell in paraview configure

Due to the screen DPI now getting smaller and smaller, the python shell embedded in paraview lack of appropriate font adjustment, hoping to join customizable features about python shell appearance.

  6. Flow Depth for Multiphase Free surface flow

Develop a tool to determine the flow depth for free surface flow. Particularly for open channel flow.

  7. Create a standalone Applikation from a pipeline and it's views

It would be nice to do prototyping in paraview and when everything seems fine create a standallone application. The application should be able to set the input of the pipeline by browsing for a file so that the pipeline can be applied to any file.
The application files should be packed into a single .exe or so. The main window's name should be configurable as well as the about box. The application would be restricted to the pipeline it was created from, there would be neither tools for pipeline manipulation nor for view adaptation which should make the application more…

  8. Bring back custom filter exposed names

I have noticed that in more recent versions of ParaView (versions > 3.8.1) the exposed names in custom filters do not display in the properties tab of the object inspector. This makes it very difficult to deal with complex custom filters (particulatly those which have multiple calculator expression fields exposed).

I am teaching a university unit in scientific data vis, and I woould like them to create some complex custom filters and document them, for now I will simple get them to use ParaView 3.8.1, but it would be nice to teach the latest version next semester.

  9. Axes Grid Scaling

The scale of the present Axes Grid is same for the all axes. So when I set Scale values on the Transforming property or Transform Filter, the values of grids become meaningless.

  10. Paraview VR version that supports use of NVIDIA IndeX plugin

The NVIDIA IndeX plugin requires a .exe version of paraview VR which doesn't currently exist on the downloads section.

  11. Remove legend ticks !!!

I think the visibility of the ticks on the legend should be optional...

  12. Right now quantities are associated to nodes or elements, but in electromagnetics some quantities are naturally associated to faces (fluxes)

Right now quantities are associated to nodes or elements, but in electromagnetics some quantities are naturally associated to faces (fluxes) or edges (magnetomotive forces) and special finite elements (nedelec / raviart-thomas) can be used to interpolate such quantities. Is support for such entities planned? If not how difficult would it be to implement it?

  13. create surface mass flow rate for all time steps

filter for a surface or plane calculates the mass flow rate over time steps and we can plot over time

  14. apply median filter to not onl;y the VTI data but other data format (e.g. foam, tecplot)

I am trying to use the median filter to filter my tecplot data to remove the noise. However, I realise the filter only works with the VTI image data instead of other types of data. Hence, I am trying to use Python median_filter in the programmable filter to do the filtering.

  15. Import Azore CFD solver data

The Azore CFD package has an export to VTK for ParaView use, but ParaView does not have an import directly from Azore. Would be useful to connect the two more completely.

  16. Create a reader for the Fieldview format (.fvuns).

The .fvuns format is commonly used for creating animations in FLUENT. The reason is that you can export selected planes/surfaces (even with dynamic mesh), meaning that you will have lower file than when exporting the entire data set. For long transient animations, this format is therefor highly useful.

  17. Support moab mesh format natively.

The moab group already has a plugin, but you need to build paraview on your own to use it.

  18. Create the ability to align sources (besides cone) along different axes

It seems that most sources (cylinder etc.) only align along the Y axis. The ability to align then along a different axis would be very helpful.

  19. Draw ellipsoids/cylinders with specified orientation vector

The default cylinder aligns along y-axis. It would be much helpful, if the users can specify the orientation vector of the cylinder directly inside the paraview.
