Transparency/opacity in surface color map
When rendering surfaces, you are only able to set colors in the color map. You should also be able to set the opacity for each control point as you can with volumes. (Bug 6129)
This is supported in ParaView 3.98.0. The Color Scale Editor dialog adds an option to “Enable Opacity Function” for surfaces. When checked, users can specify the opacity function to use, similar to that specified for volumes.

Is there a way to set the opacity function by another array than used for coloring? E.g. surface is illustrated by a certain color map visualize a chosen data array. Now I'd like to set the cell opacity by another data value - making alpha compositing/blending possible
I made a suggestion there: https://paraview.uservoice.com/forums/11350-general/suggestions/12917148-alpha-blending-or-opacity-by-data-value -

If implemented, consideration should be paid to the fact that most of the time you just set opaque colors, so that should be easy. Perhaps there should be a checkbox or some other kind of widget that enables setting the opacity.
