Extend FileSeriesReaderProxy for files named by Date & Time
Extend ParaView's FileSeriesReaderProxy to step through files named by date & time rather than by integers in a filename.
This documentation explains how to use FileSeriesReaderProxy to animte over files named foo1.xyz, foo2.xyz, ... fooN.xyz.
http://paraview.org/Wiki/Animating_legacy_VTK_file_series
However, this doesn't work with filesnamed by date and time (Year-Month-Day-Hour-Minute-Second):
foo1995-03-21T00-00-00.xyz
foo1995-03-21T01-00-00.xyz
...
foo1995-03-21T23-00-00.xyz
foo1995-03-22T00-00-00.xyz
...

I've been using Python as a work-around.
LoadPlugin('/Users/schmitt/paraview/plugins/vtkLFMReader/build/libvtkLFMReader.dylib',ns=globals())
files = glob.glob('/Users/schmitt/paraview/testData/LMs_mhd_*.hdf')
files.sort()
vtkLfmReaderObject = vtkLFMReader(FileNames = files) -

@berk.geveci: Native support would be best, I didn't know that was possible. Can you point me to the documentation via e-mail or through my related post to the mailing list: http://www.paraview.org/pipermail/paraview/2010-December/019656.html Also, how do I delete this UserVoilce request?

Ah, I misunderstood the request. If you are developing your own reader, wouldn't it better for you to add native time support? There can be many ways of encoding time (and date) into a filename and I don't think adding support to the file series code for this is the right thing to do. I'd be happy to provide some help on creating a custom version of the file series reader for example.

@berk.geveci: I'm working with a custom reader plugin for HDF4 files generated by our model. Our HDF4 files are named by date & time (foo_1995-03-21T00-00-00.xyz) and the FileSeriesReaderProxy does not recognize a collection of files named by date as a time series. Would the XML based meta-files you mentioned work with our reader plugin?

I am not sure that this is the best way of adding support for time values. We have plans to extend XML based meta-files (.pvd) to support legacy VTK files. Pvd already has support for time values.
