  1. Today, SpacePilot is supported only if you build ParaView manually. My guess is that this excludes most users. It would be great if SpacePilot could be supported by default - or if that has drawbacks, then maybe as a plugin?

  2. When Pipeline is very large, it would be useful to filter the display in Pipeline Browser.
    For example :
    - ability to display only active filters of the selected RenderView/Layout
    - search bar

  3. In now time paraview support only creating contour lines on pressure p.
If I want to create the countour line on velocity, which is not allowed by countour, I need to use 'Calculator' field with command "mag(V)", then I've got my Result, and only then I can use this Result in the countour filter to make the lines on my velocity magnitude

  4. I suggest you to implement the feature which will allow to move source objects (sphere, disk and so on) using the mouse (like it happens with Point Source and Line Source for StreamTracer).
Yes I know, we can move source object through the properties Translate, but sometimes it's better to move source objects with a mouse and only adjust object position with Translate properites

  5. I see that it's been requested for quite a while! It'd be marvelous if you could just obtain the difference, union or intersection of two shapes with a click of a button... Just saying....

  6. A conversion reader for Abaqus/CFD files would enable us to postprocess fluid dynamics problems in Paraview

  7. Would it be possible to plot the relative frequency of the histogram data as well as the bin count data? Thanks!

  8. MRC is a file format for imaging data in 3D electron microscopy, where the result of the technique is a three-dimensional grid of voxels each with a value corresponding to scattering potential. It was developed by the MRC (Medical Research Council) Laboratory of Molecular Biology. This file format is supported by many software suites for molecular biology that support volumetric data, such as IMOD and Chimera. The file format is described in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MRC_(file_format), see also http://www2.mrc-lmb.cam.ac.uk/image2000.html and http://bio3d.colorado.edu/imod/doc/mrc_format.txt.

There is an ITK module that contains classes for reading and writing image files in the MRC file format, see …

  9. Paraview can handle drag and drop for data files (great feature) but not for state files.
Also make drag and drop working for plugins. (copy the plugin file to some safe place .config/... and check the Auto Load). This can make using plugins much easier for new people.

And have a central place (wiki maybe) with a list of the community plugins (compiled or in source).

Great job and Merry Christmas to all.

  10. I suggest to add the ability to read Abaqus files (.odb). After all it is a very popular code, and this way the post processing would also be possible on Linux/Mac.

  11. Parallel execution seems not to be working under Windows 7 64 bit

Only one core used even if "enable multicore for data processing" is ticked

    Thanks

  12. It would be great to have a filter that directly computes cells volume and store it as a variable

  13. Adding functionality to represent a 3D object filled.
After using slice for example only the contour line is showed of a sphere. The representation mode volume instead of surface would be nice.

  15. I have in vain looked for th e (documented) render-node-port option in recent PV releases (4.1, 4.2) and cannot find it. Presently it seems that data- and render-server connection is mandatory random. This makes it more or less impossible to connect DS on cluster nodes to RS on e.g. a workstation. An otherwise quite efficient solution when reading parallel OpenFOAM data.

  16. I think that Julia is the next best scientific programming language. CFD, FEM, Magnetic, and other solvers, as well as filters could be written right inside Paraview, and executed with decent performance. The same code can be developed as stand-alone functions.

  18. A filter to divide a dataset into different ranges for a particular variable that has for output each range in the X axis, and the volume that corresponds to each range in the Y axis.

For example, I am doing mixing tank CFD simulations, and I am interested in understanding how much of the volume of the tank is at different ranges of velocities. The way I do it now is to manually create thresholds for each range, and then integrate variables.

  19. Allow a global z scale like Google Earth. Currently I have to scale each of dozens of input data individually. This is an important feature for terrain visualizations.

  20. Scale the speed at which zoom occurs based on mouse input. In other words, add a user preference for scaling how rapidly or slowly the scene zooms in or out based on moving the scroll wheel. My mouse seems extremely sensitive.
